Dear SRCS Community:

Today’s updates:

We have unfortunate information that Marin County’s Public Health Officer, Dr. Matt Willis has tested positive for COVID-19, making him Marin’s 39th confirmed case. Dr. Willis recorded a video message to the community from his home on Sunday night, where he has been self-quarantined from his family since his symptoms first appeared late last week. Deputy Public Officer, Dr. Lisa Santora, will lead the operations as Dr. Willis recovers. Dr. Willis has been a visible leader of Marin’s COVID-19 response work. Our thoughts are with Dr. Willis and his family, and we are grateful for his work surrounding COVID-19.

FOOD SERVICES

  • SRCS continues to distribute free meals (lunch and breakfast for the following day) to all SRCS students under the age of eighteen. Please bring your child’s School ID with you. Thank you! Location: Bahia Vista: 125 Bahia Way, San Rafael | Hours: 11:30AM- 12:30PM Monday through Friday.
  • We are working with the SF/Marin Food Bank to increase the amount of days to serve food pantries to our community. Please expect to hear the dates and timing directly from your home school.
  • For a list of SF/Marin Food Bank pantries please visit SF/Marin Food Bank Food Locator (link: https://foodlocator.sfmfoodbank.org/).

CHROMEBOOK DEPLOYMENT

  • This Thursday and Friday (March 26th and 27th), Chromebook deployment for our high school students who do not have access to a device at home will begin. On Monday and Tuesday (March 30th and 31st), we will deploy chromebooks to our middle school students.
  • If your child does not have access to a device at home review the SRCS Chromebook Deployment Flyer for location, time, permission slip and requirements to check out a device.

REMOTE LEARNING

  • Communications regarding your child’s remote learning will come directly from your school. We are constantly updating our SRCS Remote Learning Website so please visit us often for various resources!
  • For TK-5th graders: we are in the midst of printing out more packets and will be in communication on how those will be disseminated.

In an effort for all to stay informed with reliable information, we want to offer you a few resources:

  • On March 24 from 5-6pm there is a Virtual Town Hall with Representative Jared Huffman, Marin County Public Health, and Mary Jane Burke, Superintendent of Schools at the Marin County Office of Education. You can view on Comcast Channel 30, AT&T Channel 99, online at Marin TV buff.ly/2xjzBaY, or Facebook Live buff.ly/33H6Z7E
  • SRCS is pushing out information on Twitter @SRCSSchools and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/SanRafaelCitySchools/.
  • You can also watch updates from Governor Newsom on both sites @GovPressOffice and https://www.facebook.com/GavinNewsom/.

In closing, we request for safety reasons that you do not allow your student to congregate on school campuses unless they are there for a specific reason (e.g., to pick-up a meal or a chromebook).

We hope you are staying well and healthy.

Sincerely,
