Principal's Welcome
Principal's Welcome
Dear Glenwood Community,
I want to welcome you to the 2025-26 school year. My name is Jacob Hodgson and I am the principal of Glenwood Elementary School. I am starting my third year at Glenwood and my sixteenth year as a principal. I look forward to seeing you all soon as we welcome in the new school year.
The beginning of a new school year is an exciting time. We get to welcome back our returning students, meet brand new students and familiarize ourselves with the changes on campus; both in the actual building and in staffing.
I am always excited to start a new school year. Seeing the growth in the kids and the excitement they have reconnecting with peers, staff and the greater Glenwood community is wonderful to witness. The first few days and weeks of school really set the tone for the year and we want to ensure each child that walks through our gates is entering a safe and respectful environment full of responsible individuals.
We know that the first day of school can bring a mix of emotions—excitement, nerves, and curiosity are all
completely normal! To help your child start strong, we recommend re-establishing a consistent school
routine. This includes:
- Getting 9–12 hours of sleep each night (as recommended by pediatricians)
- Putting away screens at least two hours before bedtime
- Waking up early enough to prepare and arrive to school on time
As you get ready for the new school year, please note that all essential school supplies will be provided. You only need to send your child with a backpack, lunchbox, and water bottle. Please put your students first name and last initial on everything that comes to school. We want to make sure if an item is left behind that we can return it to its rightful owner.
Once again this year there will be free breakfast and lunch offered to all students that would like it. Breakfast service begins at 8:30. Yard supervision also begins at 8:30. Please do not drop your children off before 8:30.
We can’t wait to see you at Glenwood! Please remember that our first day of school, Wednesday, August 20 is a 1:30 dismissal day and the students are dismissed at 1:30 pm. We also want to remind you that we close our campus each morning at 8:45 once the school bell rings and gates are closed until the end of the school day at 3:30. If you arrive late, or need to check your student out early for an appointment, you must use our single point of entry at the main office.
Eagles are Respectful, Responsible and Safe. Go Eagles!
Sincerely,
Jacob Hodgson
